This sculpture of fired clay and pigment is a bust of a Native American woman with a feather in her hair gazing up at the sky. The work is signed B. Coffin in scratched cursive along the base. Barry Coffin (Kansas Native American 1947-2016) Barry Coffin was a Lawrence, Kansas native of Potawatomi and Creek descent. He attended the University of Kansas and later received his Associate of Fine Arts degree from the Institute of American Indian Art, a public tribal land-grant college in Santa Fe, New Mexico. His work is represented by numerous Santa Fe Galleries and held in the permanent collections of a number of museums.
