Tafunga Bonjisi (Zimbabwe B. 1982). A very talented sculptor working in hardstone Tafunga brings an organic subtlety to hardstone. He is known to work in harder stones such as springstone (one of the hardest serpentine stones) and is one of the most talented young sculptors in contemporary Zimbabwe. He is from a family of well-known and talented artists. He is brother to both Witness and Lameck Bonjisi and studied with Lameck for some time. This work exhibits a raw feminine appeal and demonstrates the contrasts present in humanity. It seems to represent the dichotomy between a smooth and finely worked external aspect of the subject with a raw and natural internal aspect of the subject.
