Captivating and grand sculpture of "Lady with Wheat" by French sculptor, Auguste Moreau who lived from 1834 to 1917. This work was cast from the original mold either during Moreau's lifetime or by his family in the decades right after his death. This sensational piece is over 3 feet tall and weighs 86 pounds. It features gorgeous green verdigris on the lady's dress and on the wheat. The Victorian process for creating such sculptures was to cast it in a white metal and cold paint the finished piece. Under her feet is the inscription ‘Reine des Pres par Aug. Moreau,’ and Moreau's signature can be seen on the side just below where the dress falls. The sculpture sits on a solid green marble base that accents the verdigris, and it is lined with felt on the underside.
