Chairish

$49,674

This stunning statue is a life-size terracotta cast of the Venus of Arles, created by the workshops of the Musée du Louvre in the early 1900s. It features a detailed stamp on the base that reads "Musée Du Louvre", indicating its authenticity as a reproduction of the original marble sculpture currently housed in the Louvre Museum. The statue is crafted in terracotta and finished with a layer of gesso. The Venus of Arles was discovered in several fragments in the Roman theater of Arles, France, in 1651. The head was uncovered first, leading to further excavations. Later, the statue was given to Louis XIV in 1681 to decorate the Hall of Mirrors in the Palace of Versailles. Although more fragments were never found, the statue was later confiscated during the French Revolution and has been part of the Louvre's collection since its founding, though it is currently not on display. Measurements: Height: 225 cm Width: 60 cm Depth: 50 cm This piece offers a remarkable opportunity to own a faithful reproduction of a classical masterpiece, perfect for indoor display in galleries, museums, or private collections.
