Gracious Style

Odin is the god of war, wisdom and knowledge. From his palace in Asgard, he rules over gods and men, guiding brave warriors who have fallen in battle to Valhalla, where they are honored for their courage and prepared for Ragnarök, the final battle. This matte white porcelain sculpture captures the essence of Odin, the majestic king of the gods in Norse mythology, ready to fight against the forces of chaos that threaten the world. Every detail of this piece has been meticulously crafted. From the modelling of the anatomy to the ornamentation and the application of metallic lusters, this creation conveys a heightened realism, exemplifying consummate control over sculptural and decorative techniques in porcelain. A particular mention is deserved for the expressive detail of Odin’s face, marked by a scar over his left eye, a symbol of the sacrifice he made at Mimir’s Well to gain infinite wisdom. In this sculpture, Odin is depicted with his impressive arsenal of weapons, ornamented with ochre, gold and silver lusters: a helmet with long horns, a battle axe and a shield engraved with four dragons. The matte white porcelain accentuates the contrast between the imposing presence of this mythical figure and the delicate wealth of its finishes. An iconic Spanish brand, Lladro is a world leader in the creation of porcelain art. Started by brothers Juan, Jose and Vicente Lladro in 1953, the ceramic figurines were initially inspired by the works of great European manufacturers like Meissen and Sevres. Over time, a unique style was forged, consisting of elongated lines, a revolutionary single-firing method, and soft pastel tones.
