Chairish

$4,025

The Rattlesnake, a cast bronze sculpture after American artist Frederic Remington on marble base. Filled with a tremendous dramatic tension, this bronze sculpture depicts a scene from the American Old West particularly dear to Frederic Remington. A muscular horse is rearing up, frightened at the sight of a rattlesnake. The rider, a cowboy holding his hat with his right hand, is absorbing the horse's recoil with his own body. This reproduction is resting on a marble base measuring 14.5"W x 8.5"D, The Rattlesnake was one of Remington's most popular pieces and after The Broncho Buster, has been described as Remington's own favorite sculpture. Frederic Sackrider Remington (October 4, 1861 – December 26, 1909) was an American painter, illustrator, sculptor, and writer who specialized in depictions of the American Old West. His works are known for depicting the Western United States in the last quarter of the 19th century and featuring such images as cowboys, American Indians, and the US Cavalry.
