Regula subject with brown patina signed Eutrope Bouret (1833-1906). Bouret was a French sculptor known for his many works, notably the marble statue of Psyché au tribunal de Vénus. This subject depicts a young dancer, coiffed with roses, wearing a light drapery that partially reveals her bosom. The woman, with a joyful face, raises a tambourine above her head. The piece rests on a circular base with a wooden throat. This regule sculpture is a skilful blend of music, youth and, by extension, carefreeness. ******** Period: 2nd half 19th century Good condition. Wear relative to the age of the work.
