A signed kinetic sculpture handcrafted by Charles Ringer in 1994 titled "Trout", featuring two stylized trout on a riser, rendered in cut steel and mounted on a solid wood base. The trout are individually balanced on metal pins, allowing for gentle interactive movement when touched. Graphic silhouettes and pierced detailing give the sculpture a distinctly modern presence, while the overlapping fish forms create a sense of motion and visual rhythm. The matte black finish highlights the clean lines of the metalwork and contrasts beautifully with the warm tone of the wood base. Charles Ringer describes his works: "My kinetic animated silhouettes are hand cut from 1/4 inch steelplate. I construct them individually which gives a uniqueness to each work. These pieces depict various animal shapes, animal - people relationships and social stereotypes. The movement brings the work to life, captivates the onlook's imagination and transports them into the fantasy portrayed by the sculpture." Well-scaled for a cabin console, lake house shelf, or executive desk, this piece works equally well as a modernist sculptural accent or as part of a curated art collection with a folk art aesthetic. These fish will “jump” for a good amount of time when you give them a nice push. Dimensions: approximately 13-16" (depending on how closely the trout are placed on the metal pins) W × 8″ D x 12”H. Weight: 9 pounds. Caution: these are mesmerizing!
