This vintage Venini art glass egg sculpture was produced on the island of Murano, Italy, during the 1970s–1980s. Hand-blown using the celebrated canne ritorte (twisted cane) technique, it features intertwined ribbons of cobalt blue and emerald green glass that create a dynamic spiral lattice throughout the form. Standing an impressive 7 inches in height, the sculpture retains its hand-incised "Venini Italia" signature to the polished base. The canne ritorte technique is among the most technically accomplished methods of Murano glassmaking, requiring precisely arranged coloured glass canes to be twisted during the blowing process to produce a uniform geometric pattern. The resulting optical depth, combined with the saturated blue and green palette, creates a striking interplay of colour and light that changes with every viewing angle. Its generous scale further distinguishes it from the smaller examples more commonly encountered.
