A striking 18th-century Spanish Colonial polychrome wood sculpture depicting Saint Francis Xavier, one of the most revered missionary saints of the Catholic Church. The saint is represented standing in a dynamic preaching pose, holding a crucifix in his right hand while extending his left arm in a gesture of evangelization. His expressive face, flowing robes, and richly decorated mantle with gilt details reflect the devotional character and sculptural tradition of the Hispanic world during the colonial period. The figure retains its historic polychromy and displays a remarkable presence due to its impressive scale and strong visual impact. A later metal halo, incorporated during the devotional life of the sculpture, complements the image and enhances its ceremonial appearance.
