Chairish$9,725
A striking 18th-century Spanish Colonial polychrome wood sculpture depicting Saint Francis Xavier, one of the most revered missionary saints of the Catholic Church. The saint is represented standing in a dynamic preaching pose, holding a crucifix in his right hand while extending his left arm in a gesture of evangelization. His expressive face, flowing robes, and richly decorated mantle with gilt details reflect the devotional character and sculptural tradition of the Hispanic world during the colonial period. The figure retains its historic polychromy and displays a remarkable presence due to its impressive scale and strong visual impact. A later metal halo, incorporated during the devotional life of the sculpture, complements the image and enhances its ceremonial appearance. The work is presented on its base and remains an evocative example of religious sculpture intended for private devotion, chapel display, or ecclesiastical use. Dimensions: Height 110 cm (43.3 in); Width 60 cm (23.6 in); Depth 28 cm (11 in). A highly decorative and collectible religious sculpture suitable for both traditional and contemporary interiors, as well as advanced collections of Spanish Colonial and ecclesiastical art.
