Thomas Schönauer was born in Düsseldorf (Germany) in 1953 and is a famous German artist. He has gained an outstanding international reputation as a sculptor and, thanks to his constant innovation, also as a painter. The "Bund Deutscher Architekten" (BDA) appointed him an "Honorary Member" in 2012. He has been a board member of the German Rheumatism Foundation since 2016. After studying philosophy and literature at the University of Düsseldorf, he continued his studies of fine arts in Winnipeg (Canada) and at the world-famous Düsseldorf School of Fine Arts. Consequently, he began his career as an artist. After winning his first international competition in Düsseldorf in 1987, he went on to win numerous others, such as the overall concept for Germany's official appearance at the 1992 UN Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro, the world-famous Water Museum in Mülheim/Germany and other projects of similar importance.
