Victorien Tournier, Departure, Late 19th Century, Bronze

Chairish

$4,912

Important bronze with green patina, titled "departure" and signed on the terrace. Victorien Tournier (1833-1910) French sculptor, specialist in neo-Gothic sculpture, is known to have decorated three emblematic places in Paris: Notre-Dame, the town hall and the Sacré-Coeur basilica. "Departure" represents an ancient fighter, engaging in walking, bare feet, on a green heap. The man is slightly dressed, the muscular chest, an animal skin covers his crotch and part of his buttocks. He is about to take out a sword. Long hair, floating in the wind. Determination can be read in his gaze: he goes to combat. Ode to beauty and male virility, this work will charm its buyer. ******** Era: 2nd half of the 19th century Excellent condition. This piece has an attribution mark, I am sure that it is completely authentic and take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising from misattribution
