An 18th-century English walnut bureau bookcase with a double-domed bonnet top. The figured walnut veneers have a deep, warm patina throughout. Hand-beveled mirrored upper doors with arched surrounds open to shelving; the slant front drops to a fitted interior of pigeonholes, small drawers, and a hidden central inlaid cupboard with two drawers beneath an old tooled-leather writing surface. Two short over two long graduated drawers below, with batwing brass hardware and shaped bracket feet. Features hand-cut dovetails, oak-lined drawers, and a planked pine back. In good condition with wear commensurate to its age. Separates into two pieces for transport.
