Crafted in France circa 1920, the tall fruitwood cabinet stands on graceful cabriole legs terminating in bronze sabots, over a scalloped apron centered with a finely cast mount. The façade is decorated with intricate marquetry and parquetry panels inlaid with floral and foliate motifs, framed throughout with delicate gilt bronze trim and mounts that accentuate the refined Louis XV–inspired silhouette. The upper section features a single drawer above a fall-front secrétaire door, which opens to reveal a beautifully appointed interior fitted with multiple compartments, small drawers, and a central niche for organizing letters and documents. The writing surface is lined with a black leather insert, offering a practical and elegant workspace. Below, three additional drawers provide ample storage, each adorned with original bronze pulls and escutcheons. The cabinet is topped with a shaped black marble surface with molded edge, adding contrast and durability to the piece. The secrétaire is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, and presents a warm and rich walnut patina with finely preserved ormolu details.
