A fabulous American federal period mahogany secretary bookcase, Massachusetts, probably Boston, circa 1790. The top has a glazed bookcase with two interior shelves above a pediment top cornice with dentil molding and brass finials. The base features fine inlay and crotch mahogany veneers, cockbeaded drawers and a 'butlers' style drop down and pull out desk, with fitted interior. All over three drawers ending in flared French feet. The secretary is all original, except for the shelves and center finial, with an old, probably original finish, and in very good condition overall. The two side finials are original, the middle one is a replacement. It is 74" high by 31" wide by 18" deep. The finials add an extra 5 1/2". Guaranteed to be as described.
