A splendid Dutch walnut marquetry bureau c. 1760. Well constructed in solid walnut with attractive burr walnut veneers onto a solid oak carcas. Decorated throughout with profuse marquetry inlay in various woods , with floral designs and birds. The fall front (lockable, key supplied) opens to reveal a fitted stepped interior with an arrangement of drawers, pigeon holes, a central cupboard as well as a well. The writing surface is fitted with a sumptuous brown leather insert. Beneath is an arrangement of 3 long graduated drawers of pinched-serpentine outline and fitted with original pierced brass handles and escutcheons.
