French Louis XV Burlwood 18th century secretaire. This desk is remarkable for its bombe' form. Not only the sides and front, but also the backside are done in the so- called kettle form. Further, each panel of burlwood is surrounded by mahogany in curving bands. Brass ormolu handles and cast ormolu feet complete the elegant look. The interior drawers and are banked to face the sitter. The writing surface is in black leather with embossing at the rim.
