Elegant late 19th century French bonheur du jour writing table, dating to circa 1880–1900, executed in the Louis XVI style. The table features a rectangular top with a pierced brass gallery, above a raised superstructure fitted with two small drawers over an open writing surface. Below is a full-width drawer, all decorated with geometric parquetry veneer. The piece stands on slender tapering legs fitted with brass mounts, and is further embellished with finely cast gilt bronze (ormolu) mounts at the corners and drawer fronts. The proportions are refined and architectural, characteristic of French neoclassical revival furniture of the late 19th century.
