There is also additional storage above the lift up writing pad with its own cover. The desk is solidly constructed using dovetail joints extensively in the construction of the desk itself and also the drawers (see drawer detail photos) attesting to the craftsmanship typical of the period. The desk also features intricately carved front legs.
