Oblong sectional Sofa designed by Jasper Morrison for Cappellini, Italy. Jasper Morrison creates his furniture with a light touch and yet perfectionally functional. He counts they’re „supernormal“. It looks for him there’s no need for manierism or decor. His approach to furniture design goes further. His design is pure with a very deep interest in structures, details and functionality - rational and yet unconventional. With it’s parts held together by industry zippers the Oblong challenges our common idea of a sofa and certainly the Oblong series has great potential to become one of the future design classics and its early version did already find it‘s way into the vintage design galleries around the globe. This 2nd edition of the Oblong comes in a fantastic orange fabric with inlets in foam and polystyrene spheres. For this edition the bean-bag filling was further improved to provide more comfort compared to the earlier edition, the Superoblong. The fabric sofa is a very solid kind of sailcloth canvas, with stain protection. Covers can be removed to be cleaned, if necessary. It’s parts are assembled with industry-zippers and are mounted on plywood basements, that can be interlocked. Underneath it has felt pads that allow to move it around without the need to lift it. For transport it allows disassembly into its parts, due to size and construction it won’t be able to carry it as a whole. The sofa’s composition it’s not freely modular due to the position of the zippers that coordinate the position of each element. Oblongs appearance is soft, it seems to simply lay on the ground instead of resting on a base. It has a lower seat height and can even be moved around to adapt to the situation. The set consists of an arm rest on each side, three seats and back rests. The sofa is in used but very good vintage condition, with only few signs of use and ready for residential use.PLEASE NOTE that the sofa will be disassembled for Shipping and requires reassembly - we can provide further information on this process if requested.
