The rack can be installed as close as 22 inches from the ceiling to fit in tight areas above a garage door or up to 40 inches when you have more space. We include hooks to store small items under the rack. The rack can be installed in 2 directions to accomodate joist positions. Can not be installed into i-beams - only solid wood joists.
