A hardwood stool in the form of an Indian elephant with wooden tusks, shown walking forward with a curled trunk and a curled tail. Carved from a single piece of wood circa 1880. It was purchased for a private collector from Charles Jacobsen Inc. (Culver City, Los Angeles), a curator of antique Asian furniture and unique pieces from 200 BC to the 20th century.
