A truly charming and authentic piece of American Mid-Century Modern design, this side chair features a highly graphic silhouette popular in the Atomic Age. The elegant black tubular steel frame forms a distinctive "butterfly" or "bow-tie" backrest, giving the piece a sculptural, airy feel. The round seat is upholstered in its original textured, light cream fabric (not vinyl), reminiscent of a contemporary bouclé. This chair is lightweight, sturdy, and features an X-stretcher base. The feet have a black plastic cuff for floor protection. Provenance & Maker: The chair retains its original manufacturer's tag from Reilly-Wolz Associates, Inc., Astoria 5, N.Y. (pre-1963 zip code), a firm known for producing pieces for designers like Joseph Cicchelli. The tag confirms the use of Cotton Felt as the interior padding. Condition: Good vintage condition with wear consistent with age. The newly repainted black frame is solid. The upholstery has one small snag/split on the edge (shown in photos). Photos of the tag and all wear are included to ensure transparency. Dimensions: Overall Height: 29.5" Seat Height: 17." Seat Diameter: 14" Overall Width: 15" A Friendly Note on Vintage and Antique items: You're buying a piece of history! Since all our items are vintage or antique, they are not factory new. Minor wear, light scratches, or slight trim fading are normal signs of being well-loved and used for decades. We describe everything as accurately as we can, but we encourage you to examine all photos and sizes closely—your satisfaction is important! Given the nature of vintage items, all sales are final.
