1930s Colonial Revival Style Turned And Veneered Occasional Bookshelf Table

Chairish

$1,013

This is the most charming table, from the lower shelf for books, to the veneered wood and the serpentine details. This is an example of American furniture in its unusual forms that arose out of necessity, then faded for one reason or another. This history of American furniture is full of unusual forms that arose out of necessity then faded from production. This vintage table endured and is just such an example. The style is colonial revival, popular during the 1930s to 1940s. The rectangular shaped table has a beautiful silhouette with its molded edged top and serpentine ends over a molded rail, raised on four turned and tapering and fluted legs joined by a V-shaped book shelf with rounded ends. It is so charming, practical and hard to find. There are a few dings to the finish, but the patina that has developed over the years is quite beautiful. The table is sturdy and well constructed. It is compact enough to be shipped via parcel post in the continental U.S.
