18th Century George Ii Chippendale Period Tea Table

Chairish

$7,500

A period George II (c.1727-1760) Chippendale mahogany and walnut tea table with beautifully aged patina, superb grain detail, and warm, rich coloring. Elegant, sophisticated, and rather unusual, the rare mid 18th century English antique reduced in size to a side table, having a rectangular tray top with raised shaped corners, over two frieze drawers, which is highly unusual in this form. Hand cut dovetail joinery, original patinated brass escutcheon and fittings, rising on four hand carved cabriole legs terminating in pad feet. circa 1740 Provenance: A fine Greenwich, Connecticut estate Dimensions: 23.75" High, 30.75" Long, 19.5" Wide Great overall condition, strong and sturdy, with beautiful patina over the whole. Typical age appropriate wear including small veneer loss, rubbing, scratching, not detracting from the overall aesthetics, but only adding to the rustic antique character, charm and rich historic depth. Presents very well. Delivered cleaned, waxed, polished patina, ready for another three centuries of use.
