A rare pair of Franco Albini “fish trap” tables, Italy, 1950s, each retaining its original glass top — individually fitted and non-interchangeable, as in Albini’s hand-woven originals. The sculptural rattan bases are woven in the signature basket form with tripod legs bound in cane, creating a light yet architectural silhouette. Franco Albini’s Fish Trap tables were produced without labels or maker’s marks. Like much mid‑century Italian wicker and rattan work, these designs were crafted by hand in small workshops rather than factory settings; Albini’s pieces from this period were never stamped or tagged. Authenticity is determined by the distinctive woven “fish trap” construction, sculptural form, and the precise proportions of Albini’s original design with glass individually cut for each table. "Fish Trap" tables can be used separately as occasional tables, or side-by-side in front of a sofa. The scale works easily in small spaces.
