A beautiful antique rice pounder over a hundred years old has been turned upside down and repurposed as a side table. Originally the opposite hollow side was used to pound rice. We added butterfly details into the natural cracks and finished with a wire brush and our secret ingredient revealing the unique wood grain. It’s all in the details. This side table was hand made in the spirit of Wabi-Sabi, a Japanese philosophy that beauty can be found in imperfection and impermanence. It is a beauty of things modest and humble.
