This impressive antique Japanese bronze tazza dates to the Meiji Period (1868–1912). Originally a monumental tripod censer, it has been expertly adapted with a heavy 12" bronze tray top, making it a spectacular pedestal for a sculpture or a unique drinks table. The piece features two masterfully cast elephant-head handles with trunks that form the side loops, and it stands on three zoomorphic (monster-head) tripod legs. The bronze exhibits a deep, authentic chocolate-brown patina with natural age-related character. At 12" wide and 10" high, it is a heavy, substantial casting typical of high-quality Meiji export metalwork. The interior remains hollow, showing the original casting texture.
