Arcate

Arcate is a chest of drawers in solid wood with integrated handles.‎Santa Fosca church, the Torcello and Murano basilicas: in an austere architectural style, the refined lightness of the arches which follow on from each other at a constant rhythm.‎ The smaller islands of the lagoon and its Romanesque buildings.‎The curved and straight lines, the solids and voids, the austerity and lightness; and, above all, the refined lightness of the arches which follow on from each other at a constant rhythm.‎ The Arcate collection of furniture represents a stated homage to one of the essential architectural elements – the arch in its typical variation of Romanesque constructions, present in various areas of the Veneto region such as some of the smaller islands of the Venetian lagoon – consisting of seven-drawer chests, dressers and bedside tables.‎ It is a family of furniture with vibrant surfaces and a strongly architectural vocation, designed by Milanese studio AccardiBuccheri –Mauro Accardi and Silvia Buccheri, architectural designers, designers and artistic directors of the brand – for MEDULUM.‎The constant alternation of a series of arches thus defines the geometry of Arcate: solid wood elements, skilfully milled with mastery of the manufacturing process, create a system of recesses and handles which mark out the surface, while remaining apparently invisible.‎The use of canaletto walnut amplifies the sculptural nature of these objects, emphasised by the particular design of the handles, which reveal a further, important characteristic: the presence of large drawers to emphasise the highly functional vocation of the collection.‎MATERIALSCurved plywood veneered, solid wood.‎FINISHES01.‎ Oak02.‎ Canaletto walnut03.‎ Italian walnut04.‎ Black painted open-pore ash
