Remarkable round Art Nouveau coffee table "Fledermaus" designed by the famous Austrian architect and founder of the "Wiener Werkstaette" Josef Hoffmann around 1906 for the company of Thonet. This iconic design was built by both "giants" of bentwood furniture at this time - Thonet & J&J Kohn - and became world renown as part of the inventory for the famous Viennese cabaret/ coffeehouse Fledermaus in Austria. This gorgeous Art Nouveau table was made of fine beechwood, typical for Thonet furniture, and trimmed to a dark brown mahogany tone with a beautiful hand-polished shellac finish. This elegant early 20th century side table comes in absolute great restored condition. As you may see a lot of faked copies on the market, especially of this model, this masterpiece is an absolute original showing the rests of the wellknown paper mark under the tables base. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no official proof of authenticity, however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising from misattribution
