This Biedermeier side table, dating from around 1820, was crafted in Germany from cherry wood. Its construction is characterized by delicate, seemingly floating, and elegantly splayed square legs, also known as "saber legs." This understated yet unmistakably Biedermeier design can be interpreted as an example of purism. It features a concealed drawer with internal dividers, and the overhanging top is finished with a fine ebonized edge and a shellac polish that beautifully highlights the warm hue of the cherry wood.
