Biedermeier Lacquered Side Table, circa 1815 Antique painted side table, with drawer and shelf. Period: circa 1815 Origin: Austria Wood: Spruce Height: 75 cm (29.53 in) Width: 65 cm (25.59 in) Depth: 35 cm (13.78 in) : Biedermeier lacquered side table, circa 1815, enhanced by a lacquer finish applied at a later date. Built with slender proportions and compact dimensions, the furniture presents a slightly shaped rectangular top, a single front drawer, and a lower connecting shelf. The legs are elegantly shaped, tapered, and gently curved, a detail that visually lightens the overall structure. The surface is finished with a light grey lacquer. Natural wear to the finish, visible along edges, corners, and contact surfaces, reveals the underlying wood. This consolle is suitable for use as a side table or small writing desk, maintaining a discreet and functional presence within interiors furnished with historical elements. Work carried out on all our furniture: – Structural restoration: replacement of small missing parts, closure of any gaps in the backboard, consolidation of deteriorated areas, inspection and repair of hardware. – Thorough woodworm treatment. – Cleaning and sanitisation of the interiors. – Exterior finish with natural beeswax. – Interior finish with shellac, a natural alcohol‑based varnish.
