The series is an ode to the aesthetics that I fell in love with in a geometricalsculptural works of art and the interesting perfect form of the historical hexagon. It'sfascinating how hexagons are part of our life but fail to realize this. It all comes down to theelement that is present throughout our body, and that is carbon.The use of the form dates back to ancient Mesopotamia circa 690 BC in the form of hexagonalshaped cuneiform of the Assyrian king Sennacherib ´s annals, and is one of the first humansfound to utilize hexagonal shapes.The series comes in natural solid pine or burned pine that gives it its character and tactility inthe visible wavy woodgrains.About Sizar AlexisSizar Alexis is a Swedish-Iraqi product and furniture designer that experiments with objects that display serenity through geometrical shapes, whileremaining robust in volume. His trademark style is built on creating objectsbear a strong character, accomplished through the use of raw and imperfect surfaces in combination with a deep interest in Brutalism and the richcultural and architectural heritage from ancient Mesopotamia. He usesthe delicate character of noble materials juxtaposed with Brutalist angularshapes to create objects that stand the test of time.Background and historySizar Alexis was born in Ankawa, just outside the city of Erbil in northernIraq. His Chaldean roots puts his lineage in a straight line back to 5000 BCin ancient Mesopotamia. In 1997, he moved to Sweden with his family andsettled in Eskilstuna. During his studies at Beckmans College of Design,he started to explore his interest in designing objects and furniture for thehome. He holds bachelor’s degrees in Engineering (2009) and Fine Arts,(2019).
