Circa 1790 Sheraton taste oval pembroke table by George Simson, London. A significant labeled piece with molded top crossbanded with satinwood, centered by a bold fan paterae set on the tigered harewood surface above a drawer & faux drawer. Raised on square, tapered legs each with paterae panels & boxwood stringing, ending in brass cuffs & casters. Label in the mahogany lined drawer is the trade label of Simson of St. Paul's Churchyard, London, working there c.1780-1840. Compare to a Simson pembroke, c.1790, sold Christie's, Oct. 19, 2023 for $17,640 & another example at Newel currently for $18,850.
