Considered a sacred animal in the Mesoamerican world, the serpent symbolized concepts like rain, earth, fire, fertility, and renewal. Its zigzagging movement, as well as the geometric texture of its skin, has inspired a variety of textile patterns, sculptures, paintings, and architectural constructions. Coa draws inspiration from the serpentine shape in a series of furniture pieces that connect with the pre-Hispanic past. The interplay of light and shadow generated by the angles createmovement, depth, and a sense of mysticism. Each piece opens up the possibility for different perceptions of shapes, depending on the viewing angle.
