The Mica Side Table is a modern piece made from an ancient matai tree (a native timber of New Zealand) that has fallen naturally into rivers and preserved for hundreds of years under sediment layers before natural water erosion exposes them. We rescue these trees from the river and continue their journey to become a cherished piece of functional art. This sustainable timber, naturally felled by nature, has been carbon dated at over 1500 years old. The base of this table is made from aged steel.Multi-functional side table that can be slipped under a sofa or used as a stand alone side table. The wood is finished with a hand rubbed, low V.O.C., natural plant oils to bring the stunning grain to life.
