Eileen Side Table By Ziad Alonaizy

EILEEN is the second collection within our Masters’ series, paying homage to some of the most enigmatic and rousing design icons of the 20th century. The inspiration for the collection is taken from Eileen Gray’s iconic early room screen creations which were based upon an intriguing concertina effect. Each piece is defined by a principle of three contours, in the triptych style of Gray’s screens. The angled finish of the table tops carries the geometric design detailing to the very edges of the pieces. The selected finishes for the Eileen collection were developed in honour of Eileen Gray’s extensive early studies in the art of Japanese lacquering techniques and use of gold leaf in the design of her room screens. The finishes were extensively researched and developed using gold leaf under a layer of high gloss lacquer – adding luminous sparkle and movement when lit.
