A superb quality George III period Pembroke table, in a remarkably original, unrestored 'country-house condition', with beautifully patinated surface and superb golden color; retaining its original gilt-brass handles. English, circa 1790. The Pembroke table became one of the quintessential pieces in the Georgian repertoire, with its mix of form and function, as well as its elegance and compact design. The edges of table top have simple inlay to create a visually appealing, subtle pattern. Tall tapered legs end with brass rolling casters. The drop leaves allow the table to be expanded or reduced in size. Table includes one drawer positioned at the center of the table's apron and is used for storage. The drop-leaf design allows the table to serve different purposes-such as a writing desk, a small dining table, or a side table and can be used in a variety of home settings.
