Gwol Side Table by Lee Jung HoonDimensions: D60 x W40 x H52cm Materials: Stainless steel, Iron Corrosion. This work is designed under the theme of coexistence between the past and the future. Time has relativity. The present future and the present become the past someday. Thus, the artist tries to express the past and future by utilizing the properties of the object. Objects have constancy that changes over time. It is an unchanging principle that the metal that used to glow loses its light and rusts over time.Using these attributes, the artist produced works in which the past and future coexist. The past supports the future, and the future supports the past and coexists with each other. In the end, this is all a circular element, which will be the reason why we love both the enterprising beauty of the future and the familiar beauty of the past.Lee Jung-hoon is a Korean craft and furniture designer who essentially draws inspiration from Korean heritage to create contemporary sculptural pieces that embody latent symbolism and double as practically usable objects.Tradition is a gene-like thing, which goes through evolution and degradation with the times. Although it is now a turbulent time in tradition, the unique gemstones inside of it remain unchanged. he wants to discover and explore these stones to find the formation thatencompasses tradition and modern times. He is working on finding new types of furniture and decorations under the theme of Korean tradition, and at the same time wants to designthe furniture that society needs today.
