KEP T-tableMarble and brassMeasures: H 68, L 36, W 36 cmEdition: 8P + 2APThe Collection ‘Further From Function’ includes seven subtle variationsof a small table ‘IF’ and a limited edition of a sculptural side table ‘KEPT’.Produced in silver-grey marble and solid brass, the combination ofmaterials and beyond- functionality proportioning creates a line thatassociates the furniture with oversized pieces of jewelry.‘IF‘ tables were designed during a two-year process of sketching.Each of the sketches abstracted elements of the previous constructionby focusing on individual elements of the objects. In this manner, abstraction and visible excess led back to a minimal approach that beginsfar from the notions of functionality that influenced the initial drawingsStudio khachatryan, founded in 2010 by designer Noro Khachatryan,is active in various felds of product and architectural design.The studio designs installations, interiors and architectural elementsfor public and residential spaces. Experimental work, functional objectsand furniture are self-produced or manufactured in cooperation withBelgian and international companies.The work of Noro is about space. Most of the time, the object attractsour perception and enclose it into a shape, function, finishing, detail.His design seems to provide objects with a wider experience: theyloose their static and project themselves into a metamorphic universe.The shape changes each time depending on our observation point.The designer loves natural materials and drives them carefully to newdimensions, emphasizing one texture or combining different ones:wood, metal, stone.
