A circular red lacquered side table in the Chinoiserie style made by John Widdicomb Furniture Company and part of their Mario Buatta Collection. This piece was purchased new for display in our showroom and has never been used. The John Widdicomb Furniture Company of Grand Rapids, Michigan manufactured a range of some of the best made and most stylish furniture in the United States. Among the designers who worked for Widdicomb were T.H. Robsjohn-Gibbings and George Nakashima. The Mario Buatta Collection was a curated offering by famed interior designer Mario Buatta that included a wonderful selection of English Regency reproductions, including occasional, dining and bedroom furniture as well as selected upholstery pieces. This piece has no labels or stamps. The John Widdicomb Furniture Company went out of business in 2002. The table is decorated in red lacquer Chinoiserie style with the top featuring figures in a temple landscape setting; the top is supported by a turned baluster base terminating on a pedestal supported by four gilded animalistic feet.
