Side Table Meadow Blocks by Andredottir & Bobek Dimensions: D 25 x H 40 cm Materials: Reused Foam/mattress and Jesmontite Hardner in Color White ang Green Fade. Artificial Nature is a collaboration between the artist and design duo Josephine Andredottir and Emilie Bobek We have in this project imitated landscape with artificial materials. We create an artificial scene of nature because art and design often find common ground here. The natural colours of rock, stone and moss are what first comes to the eye when looking at the scene from far away, but when moving in between the shapes you slowly feel the transformation from natural to artificial within the objects. Sculptural function as well as physical function is not an aim in itself but is instead replaced with a diverse landscape where the object floats together as a whole. Here you are allowed to explore the materials and explore moss and stone in a new way. The many handcrafted shapes give a natural rough looking surface that allows the eyes to wander and find new places to investigate. Meadow Block side tables are all handcrafted in materials such as reused and recycled mattress hardnet up with jesmonite. Not only is the main product mattress turned into nature, but the works also contributes to recycling and focuses on creating less waste. Our work aims to encourage art and design as symbiotic disciplines, giving us as performers free rein to go beyond our professional background and develop a new and experimental art and design language together. We are curious about the borderland between art and design and are focused on the definition and use of the objects we surround ourselves with daily. Our artworks focus on material study, design language, object, and function. We believe that our work can contribute to society and raise social awareness of material research in design, art, and architecture. We believe that our work can contribute to engaging artworks that create less waste and focus on high quality and sustainability in objects. We believe that our works can push ourselves and others to question the definition of objects by using modern material research in hand-built shapes and structures. We see ourselves as an art and design generation of material researchers. Our works aim to explore how objects and materials are used today in products and how we can cross the borders and use materials to their full potential.
