Paletto Side Table, 32 X 45 Cm, Bronze

Nikari’s Paletto is a refined glass side table and a distinctive piece of Finnish glass art, designed by Timo Mikkonen and Antti Rouhunkoski, founders of Poiat Studio. Its angular shape is inspired by construction sites – the beauty of the table lies in the contrast between strong, pillar-like forms and the delicate glass surface that gently filters light. Paletto captivates both as a functional side table in the living room and as a sculptural art piece in its own right. Glass was chosen as the material for the Paletto table for several reasons: first, it was a new material for the designers, who had previously worked mainly with wood and textiles; and second, Timo Mikkonen’s childhood friend happened to own a glass workshop that was perfectly suited for the production. The tables’ angular shape is created by casting molten glass into molds, while their soft, lively surface is achieved by brushing each piece by hand. Paletto tables are handcrafted in small batches in Kuopio, Finland, and each one is individually numbered.
