Constructed in teak, with an angled box unit sitting above an underframe incorporating a sliding newly upholstered seat. The seat pulls out from beneath the cabinet on its frame and slides back in when not in use, keeping the footprint compact. Above, an angled open compartment provides storage, with a single drawer set above it and fitted with a sculpted solid wood handle. The box unit and underframe are joined by quick-release fittings, allowing the seat to be rotated to slide out from the front or either side, as documented in the original Chippy instruction sheet included with this example. The drawer retains its original printed "Memory Slide" card for recording names and telephone numbers. Produced by Chippy Heath as part of the Phonette range of telephone seats.
