The son of Swedish artists and craftsmen Maja Fjaestad (1837-1961) and Gustaf Fjaestad (1868-1948), in 1922, alongside his parents, he was involved in the creation of the art industry collective Arvika Konsthantverk (Arvika Handicrafts) at The Rackstad Colony. Although Fjaestad did not follow the design narrative of the era, he certainly played a significant role in the development of Sweden’s international design reputation, his style eventually absorbed into design characteristics of modernism in Sweden.
