Old growth pine, wenge, maple. The entire process can be viewed on my YouTube channel by typing in @cosmobarbarfurniture. The steps on how I built this are in a series of videos from my playlist entitled (parquetry top old growth pine square end grain series.) This table is 100% completely recycled from 162 year old growth pine barn beams that were given to me. Parquetry by definition is; gluing small individual blocks of wood together to create a larger top or surface. There are 35 individual squares of old growth pine that are arranged to feature the end grain pattern to make up the top. Inlayed in the end grain top is short grain inlay in wenge and maple keeping expansion and contraction rates the same. The pattern is created simply by manipulating the blocks to create the diamond patter and was glued with tight bond II. Since this was an experiment I made the top 1st page. Then I designed the bottom in a 2 point perspective hand drawing video that is part of the above series on YouTube. It features sliding dovetail joinery and wenge feet. ensuring it will last centuries. This piece is the only one of its kind in the world and truly a work of art. Finished in warm gloss polyurethane.
