Regency Mahogany Card Table, 1810

Chairish

$1,665

Rare Regency Mahogany Fold-Over Card Table by Laver Oliver A rare Regency period mahogany fold-over card table by Laver Oliver of Bury St Edmunds, dating from circa 1810. The table retains its engraved brass patent plate, numbered 19 and inscribed “Oliver’s Patent, Bury St Edmunds.” The rectangular top has rounded front corners and attractive mahogany figuring, opening to reveal a green baize-lined playing surface. The patented action allows the top to rotate and unfold above the pedestal, while also revealing a useful storage compartment beneath. Raised on a finely turned central column above four swept legs, finished with brass caps and castors. A particularly interesting and uncommon documented example of English Regency cabinetmaking, suitable for use as a card table, games table or occasional side table.
