Small side table in black and white petrified wood, H28 D18. Petrified wood is a fossilized wood (same family as magnolia) dating back 20 million years. Silica replaced the wood fibers molecule by molecule, resulting in silicified wood. Fossilization is a slow process, allowing the tree's patterns to be distinguished.
