This sculptural side table is from the Studio Brancusi Collection designed and made by China-based artist Danjie Yan. The works debutted at Sifang Art Museum at Nanjing, China.Danjie was inspired by the pioneer of modern sculpture Constantin Brancusi's studio, where blocks of sleek-shape stones are laying around. The collection consists of 6 pieces of side tables (some can be used as stools as well). They can be made in stainless steel or marble (different pricing) and custom size and colors as well. About the artist:Danjie Yan and Qifeng Wang began to work as a duo in Shanghai 2014, with the aim of designing and producing furniture and architecture. They are keen on using and reconstituting the most appropriate raw materials. They believe that furniture and architecture are fundamental necessities, but also that this indispensable character is not always a reflection of their original functions: rather, it is embodied in the way buildings or furniture have of blending together the aesthetics of everyday life, and in their capacity for deepening people’s perception of space and time. For Yan and Wang, making “furniture” is in fact a way to bring metaphors out into the real world by means of these objects; nested within their environment, they underpin and expand human action and serenity from a psychological perspective. In the production of these concrete objects, the duo strives to restore the spiritual dimension of popular materials, while steering clear of stylized, hackneyed forms, and of visual elements that bring to mind immediate contextual associations — thereby discarding rigid conformity to the queries and fixations that may characterize any given historical period. Many of their works are part of the collections of private foundations and art museums, in China and abroad.
