Tall Woven Stoneware Side Table by Milan Pekař and Tereza SlukováOne of a KindDimensions: D 23 x H 75 cmMaterials: Stoneware, blue glaze, pink glaze.WovenMilan Pekař, Tereza SlukováThe collaborative project consists of a collection of ceramic furniture and objects inspired by textile techniques such as weaving and knitting. We were inspired by the first prehistoric ceramics, which were made by packing clay into woven baskets and then firing them. Ceramics and textiles were probably some of the first complex crafts that people used. Ceramics have survived in large quantities, but early evidence of weaving survives only as imprints in pottery fragments. Weaving and knitting are used not only as decorative patterns but also as the main supporting structure of objects. Established own studio August 2009 – Focus mainly on porcelain, developing own glazes. Mould making and Slip casting. Milan Pekar is an award-winning product designer. Assistant professor at Studio of Ceramics and Porcelain - Academy of Arts, Architecture & Design in Prague.
